First up, "Around the Bend" by The Asteroids Galaxy Tour featured in an iPod Touch commercial.

One of my favorites, "Cats Meow (Do it to Me Now)" by The Bad Elliots

"Fools" by The Dodos

"Radio Christiane" by The Virgins. (I once got into a bitch fight with The Virgins, but thats another story)

"Daylight" by Matt and Kim

"The Bomb" by New Young Pony Club

"Doorway" by Io Echo

"Collarbone" by Fujiya and Miyagi (one of their many commercials)

"She Does" by Locksley

"Montreal -40C" by Malajube

"On Board" by Friendly Fires

"Stuttering" by Bens Brother

"Shiny Toy Guns" by Le Disko

Honorable Mention:
-"Oh Mojave" by Ruby Suns in a Windows commercial

Floating Action

Floating Action (named after a bass drum pedal) is really just another reason to love Park The Van Records. With their debut, self-entitled album out now, the band is now on tour.

You can definitely hear the Southern influence on these four gents. Its nice to hear organic music and lyrics over the usual heavily processed, and computer edited sound I've been hearing so much of. If the soulful bass lines and charming acoustic guitar aren't enough, well damnit, they've got some really cute lyrics.

The Dodos

I could have sworn that back in 2008 the band, The Dodo's had an apostrophe in their name. Punctuation aside, The Dodos dropped their most recent album last week.

I have to admit, its been months since I've bought an entire album of any music, but I feel Time to Die was more than worth $8. Meric Long, Logan Kroeber, and Keaton Snyder deliver a more clean, tame sound than albums prior, but what they lack in raw sound they make up with catchy acoustic. Hey, lo-fi can't stay lo-fi forever!

There is something so simple about a stripped-down set up of guitar, percussion, and vocals.

Time to Die is available now on iTunes and releases on August 31st in the UK / September 15th US.
